Do you think video games are an art form?

I personally think yes, they're just like animations, but interactive, I guess.Do you think video games are an art form?
thats a tough one but ultimatly i think yes, video games cover many forms of art, such as making a storyline, writing any scripts, of course the animations and visual aspects. I think many people probably dont think of it this way simply because they are games. I would not use the argument though (im not playing video games im watching art), I believe the artistic part comes more in the making of the video game, not the playing, but can be admired by those playing.
I think some video games, especially some of the more advance shooters and rts games can be art-like. but i'm talking about some of the latest and greatest such as crysis, company of heroes, far cry 2, etc. Many of the new games can generate some amazing scenery if you have the graphics power to run it on the highest settings.Do you think video games are an art form?
That depends on the game;

Personally I think games which have good graphics, a (sur)realistic environment and have very good music, from which all three you can see (and hear) that people put a lot of efford in it, is maybe the most beautiful art form there is; for example Gothic III.
yes the people who make them have to be creative

think of a plot for the game

draw and create a virtual world takes a lotta creativty

name the charicters

decide what they look like

figure out how to make it all work

its like writeing a book casting a movie and drawing all in oneDo you think video games are an art form?
I think you're a nerd. Video games fry brain cells, as is clear to see by asking this dumb question. Get a girlfriend man, go work out, ride your bike. Take up guitar lessons, train for Olympic ice skating, bake a cake. Art form deez nuts.
Play Okami for PS2! Then you'll NEVER ask that question again
no
