Is playing video games considered a talent or an art?

Both, not many people can be pro's at playing videos games due to whatever reasons like medical problems or they just don't know what to do in general.

Video Games by talent can be like how a person can accomplish "Through The Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce on Guitar Hero 3 without breaking a sweat or figuring out insane puzzles within seconds while an average person would take hours or even more.

By Art is another story, take some time to study the artwork, music, and feelings that games produce. Look at Halo: Reach, hear the music and look at the art, what can you interpret from it? Video Games can be stereo-typed as a bunch or nerds huddled around a office and staring at a computer monitor for hours upon end. In reality its just a form of art thats expressed through technology; every game designer, producer, and graphic designer put their heart and soul into one project which is bought by thousands (if not millions) of people who respect what they made for us to play, experience, and to pass on to others. VG's also have storylines to it and without that it really wouldn't be called a game anyway. So in a way VG's represent art by Music, Visual, and Literary means. Is playing video games considered a talent or an art?
Depends on type of game.

If it is difficult, then it is a talent. If you play it well, it is a talent. If you make it look awesome and easy and fun, it is art. Say Halo, for example. You're running around killing people, and getting a decent Kill/Death ratio. That is talent, because the enemies haven't wiped the floor with you.

Now go around bashing people's skulls in with assassinations and melee's, and you have yourself an art form there. Not only is it fun, easy and effective, people go "oooooh" (Usually followed by a PWNED, ******!) Hahahaha.

Same with any game, Modern Warfare, Metal Gear, White Knight Chronicles, Zelda, you name it.
People make big money playing games, look at MLG or even the yearly EVO tournaments in vegas. There are people who make a very nice living playing games, so yeah thats a talent. Justin wong makes a very good living playing mostly just Super STreet Fighter IV for example, and he travles all over the world playing that one game for cash.

As far as art, look at stuff like minecraft or even Little big planet. Any game that allows creation can be viewed as art, peolpe make some seriously crazy and imaginative stuff in these games that would be called art.Is playing video games considered a talent or an art?
It depends on how you look at it, and the type of games. Fighting games for example with all the graceful or gory moves can be considered an art form because it is difficult to kick someone's *** and make it look good. on the other hand, games like halo or counter strike require a bit more reaction time and thus more practice. these types of games require talent if you really want to call it that.
id say playing requires some kind of talent...but even untalented people can hone their skills and become extremely skilled if they put in the time and the effort required to reach that level

Creating and designing a world class game needs a good element of art and talent...therefore id say its a good mix of bothIs playing video games considered a talent or an art?
a talent, yes! definitely! there's so many inhumanly hard games out there! it would take someone who's really talented at certain kinds of stuff to finish those games. but an art? that is different, i think art comes into play if you are the game developer. OR there can be art if the kind of games you play are like THE SIMS where you get to build and design your house.. :)
People who are great at video games are definitaley talented and people who make them are artistic. Anyone can play a video game, but not everyone will be talented at it
Most video games require amazing reaction time, hande eye coordination,or good strategic thinking

So id say talent

Like the guy above, creating is art
neither art nor talent.....Even untalented people can play video games

however being good at playing video games can be considered a talent.
I'd honestly say neither like leon because my nephew that is only 3 years old can play halo and he's not an artist at all and he doesn't have any talent.
Playing: talent

Creating: art
Of course not just people sitting down playing games and eating.
well I play only strategy video games

and you need alot skill for that
