The Olympics has Judo, etc..
The SEA games have, Muay Thai, etc...
The Asian games have boxing, etc...
And yes, if you live in Asia and are legally asian, which is one qualification to join these games. If you're a professional mixed martial artist, could you still join martial art games in the Olympics, SEA,etc?
Yes. Georges St. Pierre is going to try to be on Team Canada for the 2012 Olympic games in wrestling.
If you good enough to make it then yes. Actually lots of former Olympic wrestlers and Judo practicioners have joined MMAIf you're a professional mixed martial artist, could you still join martial art games in the Olympics, SEA,etc?
no professioal fighters cant compete only amatures. unless your a profeesinal in a different form of fighting. for example a a ufc fighter can wrestle in the olympics but a pro boxer cant box in the olympics beacuse its the same sport
The Olympics are designated for amateur competition only. This doesn't really make that much sense, since Olympic contenders spend virtually their entire lives training. However, that's the way it's always been and the Olympic committee doesn't seem to have any desire to change that regulation. I don't know the bylaws of the other sporting organizations you have asked about. If you're a professional mixed martial artist, could you still join martial art games in the Olympics, SEA,etc?
Yes, unless you are in an organization under a contract that prevents you from doing any other sports, like they typically do in the UFC.
can a pro boxer compete in olympic wrestling is the question i guess....i would like to know the answer too...
That's a good question as to if MMA has a bearing on that and I don't have the answer. I can tell you that at one time it was possible in the US to kick-box professionally while boxing as an amateur or in Gold gloves and considered an amateur. USA Boxing and the Gold gloves did not recognize kick-boxing at one time but they have changed that and now an amateur is an amateur in either and if pro in one you can not be considered an amateur in the other.
