What are Good Colleges to get a major in game art and design?

I'm a freshman in high school but i'm looking into colleges and i want to become a video game designer when i am older but i don't know of any good colleges that i could go to so do any of you have any ideas.What are Good Colleges to get a major in game art and design?
if you want to work in the game industry, you are best to get a bachelor's degree first - computer science if you want to program, art/animation if you want to be an artist etc. Each company only has a few designers, and people who are designers don't get hired right off the bat as such -- they are veterans of the industry.

Design takes more than a course in college, and this isn't what companies are looking for. Many people who are now designers started off in QA, art, development, and then later moved into design positions.

Colleges that offer courses in design are not going to give you the tools that are needed to be a designer.



This probably isnt the answer that you want to hear, but working in the industry i have seen many people who went the game design route and cannot find employment. If you have a fine arts degree, or computer science, etc. it is applicable to other fields as well -- a lot of people change their mind through college about what they eventually want to do. I know I started off thinking i would be a lawyer, and i ended up working in games ;)What are Good Colleges to get a major in game art and design?
If you are serious you should pick up a book called video game careers it is about 20 bucks and it tells you all about what it takes to make a video game, what colleges to go to. You can find it at game-stop.alot of the colleges that offer carriers in gaming are on the west coast likeacademy of art in california. around here I might try ivy tech maybe.
