Do you think Video games can be classed as art and why so/why not?

Examples would be fantastic if you could please, I think certain games can be because of the worlds they create and all the work that has gone into it, its a form of modern art in my eyes.|||Definately. Ive played alot of game and I can confidantly say that video games are art. Some games just bring so much emotion and feelings that its amazing, and some other games you get pissed off because people keep killing you with the gernade launcher.|||Its close to art but no its not. All the steps leading up to the finished product can be xonsidered art cuz they are all pictures and ideas and drawings. A finished game is not art because, art cannot be changed from wut it is. U cant look at a painting and change it with a controller. Art cannot be changed when it is finished. In a game the users actions can change how things in the game will unfold meaning it is constantly changing. A game can be a masterpiece but it cant be considered art|||I think so. Though it may be digital, which is an art medium shunned by a lot of people, I find video games to be an art form.


It's basically the telling of a story through visuals and sounds, as opposed to your traditional book. And on top of that, you get to play as the character, get to see how the character interacts, talks, his/her sense of humour. In many ways it's much deeper than a book.
