If I want to become a video game designer, do I have to have to have good art skills?

I'm not artistic, but I want to become a video game designer. Is there a position in that field that doesn't need art skills? I know about video game testers, but I'm talking about design.

Would it come in handy to take art classes? What classes should I take in high school?

Thanks!|||Maybe you can try programming because most of the game design companies requires a programmer. Or you can also be a scriptwriter or an interface designer for a game. Good luck|||Try animation (within video games(edit: includes gameplay animation)). no painting, just trying to mimic lifelike movements. You start simple and as you move on up in rank you do more complex stuff, but it's ok cause you gained the experience from starting simple.

edit: its complicated, but if you wanna get a head start, try the Autodesk Maya 2010 demo. It's the program i use, and it was used to make Uncharted 2, and Avatar (the movie and game)

edit 2: if you want to, you should check out this video

Designers are mainly concerned with keeping the gameplay itself, coming up with mechanics, pacing and all that stuff.|||you don't necessarily need to be a good artist since most games are digitally rendered now|||youd prob have to be creative
