Is it a good idea to major in Game Designing or just major in art and computer science?

I want to be a video game designer, also I like to draw. I also heard that a degree in game designing isn't taken seriously. Is that really true? So should I just major in computer science and art or something that involves multimedia? What would be the recommended courses?|||Game design degrees are viewed as pretty much a joke in the field...they don't teach you much of value at all. Definitely go the computer science route if you want to be employable. Go ahead and double major with art if you love it. Good luck (:|||Well I would advise you not to take game designing so lightly. Games industry is definitely a huge industry and if you show some expertise in it, definitely you will earn good.|||Gaming industry is more about market trends. You have to take care of market demand. It is very like showbiz. Besides learning technical skills, you should be able to think with the time.
