i am not saying that u can't make any game ....but i am saying that making games need lots of programing skills..... one must achive the highest level of programming skills to make a small game...

making game is writting codes in a programming language..

and these codes can be of 3000-10,000 lines of programes.... it require lot of effort and logical thinking capacity....

so my advise is that u must learn language( like JAVA or any another depending on the faield of intrest of yours..) and than think of making game..... any problem contact me at "viny4frnds at yahoo dot com"|||director mx 2004

What are the best wii games for girls aged 12 and 13?

They are getting a wii for Christmas. Emma (age 12) like animals, painting and other art things. Adrianna (age 13) likes more fashionable things, and singing and dancing. • What A-Levels would be most suitable for a video games designer?

Currently I am doing Art, ICT, business studies, french, english, maths, physics, chemistry and biology. I would LOVE to become a video games designer or something in the industry.

I am picking my subjects for A-Levels and im confused as to what to do. I am struggling at Art but I feel I can really knuckle down. I am also planning to do business studies and ICT for A-Level.

Could anyone else possibly recommend what I should do ?|||Maths and English followed by Science and ICT. MAke sure you get your GCSE at grade C or above in Maths and English as well. These will be entry requirements into University.|||designing would involve a lot of coding and programming...this is not ICT..although it wouldnt really matter until you continued onto university..but if you wanted a headstart in some programming maybe "Computing", "Programming and Network Concepts" you could even get a headstart by learning some coding languages yourself. in your own time. C#, C++ and Java are good ones to learn for a beginner and theres plenty of tutorials and guides on the net to help you.|||A-levels will not affect your job prospects as much as your university/college degree. If you can do more specific technical qualifications at a local college instead of A-levels then that may be a better option for you, depending on how certain you are of your prospective career.

What's a good laptop with lots of memory for an art student?

I'm looking for a new laptop since my old one crashed -_-; I'm an art student so it needs to be able to handle several art programs such as Photoshop and be able to hold many pictures. On top of that it needs enough memory to hold games and other programs as well. I would like a screen size that doesn't stretch pictures and would prefer a PC instead of a Mac. Any suggestions?|||Get an HP TouchSmart tx2z series tablet PC.

If you want to make sure you have enough space when buying your laptop make sure it has a large capacity hard drive. And you can also use a portable usb external hard drive for extra storage. As for memory, just make sure that the computer you buy has a high upgrade capacity. If you buy a laptop that has 2gb. of memory then make sure that can upgrade to 4gb. If you decide on HP just go to www.hp.com or call them or a computer store that mainly deals in computers. Good luck!|||MSI GX720-032US 17-Inch

  • Some DS games with anime style art?

I'll pretty much anything. I've played:

    Princess Debut(lol)

    Avalon Code

Lux-Pain(my favorite! I want one exactly like this! Not time hollow though:P. TH sounds lame)

    The World Ends with You

The type of games I'm looking for are:

(Must have at least one of the aspects I'm listing) Detective work/supernatural/horror (so basically like Lux-Pain)

Dating sims( for girls(I'm a girl so I like to date boys! for boys is okay too as long as its not dirty cause then I just get freaked out! No hentai please.) Yaoi(boys love. Again no hentai!)

Fighting(with love aspects, or just a game where I can emotionally bond with the characters. Like Lux-Pain!)

Game where I can be a girl!

Games where you can use the microphone!

    And lots of visual novels!

Please and thank you! Oh and please don't say games like Pokemon,Bakugan,Digimon or Yu-gi-Oh!. Those games I hate.|||Um...I've never played this game before (I'm a dude) but try

    My World, My Way

Izuna: Legend of The Unemployed Ninja

    - this one is a dungeon game. if you don't like dungeons, don't play!

    Summon Night: Twin Age

    - a good time-killer, but not a good game

There's some guy games I know, but they're mostly SRPG (Strategy Role Playing Games) with lots of anime parts, but still. If you wanna look at them, then here

    Super Robot Taisen OG Saga

    Disgaea DS

    Luminous Arc

    - REALLY AWESOME ENDING!

    Luminous Arc 2

    - BETTER GRAPHICS, BUT THE ENDING WASN'T THAT GOOD

    Megaman Starforce

    - hey, don't knock it til you try it

    Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor

    Trauma Center

    - you play doctor. It's fun!

    Trauma Center 2

    Ace Attorney Games

    - never played them, though

Lost in Blue 2 or 3.

    - But 2 is better. But 3 is more anime-ish. which kinda ruined the game, I think

I also recommend playing the Harvest Moon games. Those are like Life games, where you are a farmer, and you can

    farm,

    fish,

    talk,

    grow,

    make money,

and eventually you get married to one of several possible mates. In some of them, you can play your children's lives, boy or girl.

But if Harvest Moon is too boring for you, you can go for the Rune Factory Games, which are basically Harvest Moon but with fighting monsters, creating items, and using magic. What I really recommend is

    Rune Factory 2

    - because the game really begins with your children, which you can choose to be a girl

    or Rune Factory 3

    - which is really, really anime-ish~!!!

What I also recommend is that you expand your gaming systems. If you have a PSP, then you can play games like

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable

    - it was originally a PS2 game, but the PSP version allows you to pick whether to be a boy or a girl. You. Will. Love. This. Game. I'm serious. You live an average Japanese student's life with clubs and sports and relationships, and at night you fight Shadows with your Persona

    Hexyz Force

    - Sorry, never played it, but it's really animated and you can pick to be a girl

    Yggdra Union PSP

    - Again, never played it. But is anime style and main character is a girl

Also, the Wii has a lot of games as well, like

    Fragile Dreams

    - MY FAVORITE!

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

    - if you didn't play the prequel before this, that's okay. I did too, and I wasn't that lost. Just didn't enjoy it as much

But most of all, I recommend that you follow game companies that publish these games. Most of the games I said were from Atlus USA, which is a branch in the USA from a Japanese Company.

If all those things didn't help, then I recommend going here:

    http://vndb.org/v/all

Find the Visual Novels that are in DS (LIKE I DID) and if you are SUPER DESPERATE (LIKE I WAS) then go and buy Japanese games. Or download them online.

Sorry that's all the info I can give you

    P.S.

What's wrong with Time Hollow!?!? Lux-Pain had spelling errors AND the voices didn't match!

The World Ends With You was great!

Avalon Code was okay-ish. I really like the opening though. Do you have a boyfriend yet? Is it Rempo? It better be Rempo!!

Okay, bye-me~!|||phoenix wright games and trauma center games have the anime art style, pw has detective stuff... tc not so much...

there is also the Trace Memory/Another Code games, theyre pretty interesting

The Lost in Blue series also is animeish and uses the mic

hmm... if youre willing to jump to 3ds theres blazblue which is an anime style fighting game

thats all i can think of off the top of my head, good luck on finding your next game|||999 would be similar to Lux pain. The game looks great too.

(Nine hours, nine persons, nine doors)

    Trauma team: under the knife.

    Cooking/crafting, garden Mama(the series)

    Style savvy.

    Theresia.

Sorry but i really don't know if their is boy dating anime style games.|||There are alot, Bleach games, naruto games, or u can try spectron. very anime-ish|||Bleach?|||I'm not sure how much sense they'll make if you haven't played the sequels, but I definitely recommend Kingdom Hearts. It has two games on DS one called 358 and a Half Days and the other Re: Coded. Definitely a fun series of games.

There are also a lot of Final Fantasy games out -- many of which are stand alone games. Great storylines, interesting characters, strategy, action etc.

Both Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy were created by the same company that made The World Ends with You.

Then there's games that go with specific animes and such.

The Art Institute of San Diego Game Design Program?

I am looking to find more information on the credibility of this school. Is this more of a real university or is it one of those ITT Tech kind of schools? Are there any game designers on here that can give me the names of schools they attended, or good schools to attend? Should I just get a degree in computer science/programing and then try to work my way into the gaming industry? I really just don't want to spend the money at the Art Institute, graduate and then have a degree (if it is considered a degree) in game design that the gaming industry considers useless, or below par.|||I attended AI: San Diego for awhile, it is an excellent school. They have a lot of teachers that have worked in the industry and good relationships with several game studios in the area. There are even a few classes where you get to present your project to people from Sony Online Entertainment. The nice thing about AI is that you get very career-focused and hands-on classes, not a lot of classes that aren't related to your degree, and not a lot of long lectures.

You should be aware though, that the Game Art and Design degree is VERY art-focused, it's mostly about 3D modeling, and this is where the majority of the students get their jobs (50-75%). If this is what you are interested in, great. If you're more interested in game design (which was my case), this probably isn't the program for you.

They also have a game programming degree, but they just started offering it so I wouldn't recommend it as it's fairly untested. It has a lot of 3D modeling involved as well.

I wouldn't worry about the degree being considered useless though. Here's what one of my industry contacts said about game-specific degrees:

"Throughout my career, I've interviewed many programmer candidates from both game schools as well as traditional colleges/universities. I've never found any significant correlation between candidate quality/longevity and whether their school was game-specific or not."

Good luck with whatever you chose to do. I hope you find the school that's right for you!

Working on a game as part of a homemade independent studio. If I upload concept art to Facebook, will I retain my copyrights or will the content become part of the public domain/Creative Commons?|||Read the Creative Commons act, and Facebook terms and conditions VERY carefully.|||It is not that simple to "accidentally" lose you copyright ownership. You must INTENTIONALLY record your donation of all of your rights to the public. Simply publishing your work on the internet has nothing to do with losing any of your exclusive rights under the copyright law -- you have simply given everyone in the entire universe a limited license to download and view a copy for their own private purposes.

You do NOT have to give anyone the right to further upload or other distribution of your works and you can CERTAINLY register your copyright at any time and sue anyone who is using your works in any non-licensed way.

Just because something is on the web does not make it "public domain". Just because I park my car on the street does not mean it's yours for the taking. Just because I leave my house unlocked does not mean everyone is invited in to take away anything they like.|||If you have your own copyrights on it then your fine, if you don't its fair game to anyone online

Do you think I can get into game design with a Studio Art & Graphic Design degree?

I have all these great ideas for computer games (competitive online game style games with themes) but when I look up things about "Graphic Design" I see it being more about people making advertisements and labels.

I'd hate to think I am wasting my time by getting this degree.|||yes|||u can do anything you put your mind to|||Its a very hard industry. The short answer is maybe. Be prepared for long hours and working weekends though. I have a friend of a friend that works at Blur in LA. I went and visited him on a Sunday at the office. Over half the employees were there working.|||Have you just started college? The best way to ensure you know all that you need to know to work in the game design field is to be in a video game design program (they do exist) or possibly consider animation as a major. You're right; graphic design is more about a static image (ads, business cards, websites) rather than a moving image like a video/computer game. Your best bet is to get into the animation program or add it as a minor. After graduation, potential employers will want to see a portfolio of your work, and in your case, you want a portfolio of short clips rather than a portfolio of ads.

Also, try asking your professors the kinds of programs a game designer may use on a daily basis and start working with those programs in your free time. Your major may not matter so much as long as you can prove familiarity with the techniques and the most popular programs a game designer uses.

  • What do you call people that design the covers for video games?

In my art class we have to pick 2 artists that inspire us and the problem is the only type of art I like is like the covers of video games (such as final fantasy), but I dont know any artists who do that...

So do you know what theyre called? And any artists of that type?

thanks :)|||Yes they are Graphic Designer, or even Artistic Director for the best ones. They can have free lance contracts or be employees of the creative agency that is managing the packaging and marketing for the launch of the said video game. if there is a specific video game cover you like go to the editors website and wheck the copyright of the product you should find or the agency name or the freelance name.|||They are made by the "Lead Artist" on a video game team. A game is made by a team of people that each have their own specialty. Programing, Artist, Production among others. Check out Video game companies and look for the Lead Artist. Frozen Code Base is one in the Mid west. My son is in his last year of college getting a degree in Video game design and Production. The owner of Frozen Code Base is one of his professors.|||I believe they are contracted to create the covers.

The ones i've seen don't just do video games, they also do album covers and anywhere where digital graphics are needed.

I'm fairly sure their title is a Graphics Designer.|||Graphic designers. They are the same that design covers for cds and books, posters etc. I don't know the name of anyone who did a video game cover but if you search on the game's credits or internet page you may find something.

Can games made in RPG Maker be ported to places like the App Store, X-Box Live or WiiWare?

I always wanted to make my own game with my own art, but learning C++ is too difficult for me. I'm an amazing graphic artist and painter. I have scanners and stuff too.|||No, because games in the App Store have to be programed to play with a touch screen in a specific coding language exclusive to iOS. Same with Xbox Live or WiiWare, there are control and coding barriers. You could just make a game that's an executable file and give/sell that, maybe even through Steam or something if it's good, but generally it's good to know a certain coding language and making a game is quite complicated.

Is adobe photoshop or illustrator cs3 better for creating video game art?

i want to start making flash games and i was wondering which program is better for making the art for the games.|||adobe photoshop will be a better choice|||um.... you use FLASH to make the art......|||The main difference is:

Photoshop you are manipulating photos and

Illustrator you are actually drawing your own graphics.

So... with that in mind and knowing your can drag and drop from illustrator to photoshop and vice versa - it's depending on the type of "art" you are trying to create.

What are good ways to address sexism in video games?

I am a female art major who is interested in becoming a part of the game developing industry, however, as a woman I am still offended by much of the material presented in games. "Chain-mail bikinis" and the like. After the recent release of the game The Witcher I am particularly appalled by the over-use of sexual content and objectification of the female characters.

As a gamer and as a potential future developer, I would like advice on ways to address this issue.|||Beyond simply not buying games that have offensive depictions of women, there are two things you can do. First, you can set a standard for yourself regarding what types of games you will work on. I have made the personal decision that I will not work on any game that demeans women, or overly objectifies them. I would leave the game industry before I would work on a GTA game. I realize that limits my job prospects, but so far I haven't had to make that choice. There are many, many games out there that don't involve sexual content, ridiculous bust sizes, or objectification of women. They just aren't the ones that 19 year old male game reviewers focus on.

The second thing you can do is join the International Game Developers Association's (IGDA) Special Interest Group on Women in Game Development. They have a mailing list here: http://seven.pairlist.net/mailman/listin鈥?/a> which is very welcoming and supportive of students looking to get into the game industry. We discuss issues surrounding the image of female characters in games, the percentage of gamers who are female and their expectations, and the difficulties of working in an industry that is still 90% male. It's also a good way to hear about projects that don't objectify women and companies that value female game developers.|||Design a kick *** game that doe not include any of it. Then when you are the new boss, hire only people who see it your way.|||The gaming industry is too large and varied to have a real impact in this area (and I say this at the risk of sounding too negative).

I agree with you about the objectification of women, because you see even small undertones of it in harmless games like Need for Speed. But in order to make a change, you have to do it from within the system. Make female characters who are "real" (proportionally and everything else), and if the game is good, you will find support. But the key is making a kick *** game. Do that, and you will have created a strong vehicle for your message.

But im sure it doesn't help in fighting better in the vitual world lol|||No. You could be a martial artist with thousands of hours of training and lose to your 8 year old nephew with several hundred hours of tekken.|||personally, i trained in tae kwon do and have a poom belt in it but i suck playing as hwarang in tekken. I want to move over there. I'd also like to go to college, too.

Thank you for all answers.|||Digipen is in WA State, and it's the only "video game design" college I ever recommend. Most colleges that offer video game design don't offer programs that are strong enough to actually make you employable in the field - but Digipen's program is really very good.

What is a better game art academy or animal crossing?

i am getting a dsi for christmas and i want to get a game with it i wanted to get art academy but i am thinking of getting animal crossing does anyone know what is a better game please help thanks xxx ;]|||Animal Crossing for sure! There is so much more things to do in AC and it will keep you playing for months! I'm not even exaggerating. In Animal Crossing you get to interact with your neighbors, build/decorate your house, explore, play with your friends (either online across the world or a buddy who has the game sitting close to you) and many other things! Trust me on this - if you want more fun and time invested into a game pick up Animal Crossing! we r in 7th grade!|||The flyswatter game is fun. Make up questions, put the 1-2 word answers on sticky notes. randomly put the sticky notes all over the board in front of the room. divide into teams. Each team gets a flyswatter. One person from each team goes up in front. Someone (the teacher or a reader) reads the question. The first person to "swat" the right answer gets a point. Be sure to have rules like no swatting each other etc.

Is Graphic Design and Game Design considered as art?

Is Graphic Design and Game Design considered as art?

    Just wondering.

How about Fashion?|||Graphic design, game design and fashion design are just that -- design.

Design differs from fine arts, which is most often the field we associate with the word "art"; however, this is just a result of habit.

Nowadays, there's a growing rift between artists and designers, with either group not wanting to be associated with the other. Most often the rift is created in regards to ideas about industry and functionality.

Whether art is a facet of design or design is a facet of art is up to you, but most artists and designers are hesitant to use the words synonymously.|||any form of expression threw creative means is considered art .

Look of the stats on colleges like Carnegie-Mellon, MIT, Stanford and see what they offer and require. Or you might be interested in the new Computer Science Department in development at the UofT Austin:

I'm not specifically going to definitely go to an art based college; however i have a friend who has been working on her portfolio to enter such places for the fast few years. Would any one with flash experience be willing to help me produce flash games?

I am an artist and musician, but not a programmer. Would it be possible to have some one contact me and work over the internet to make flash games or animations while using my art and music?

I have Lots of talent and resources to make Music and Art, I just suck at coding, and don't want to use game maker sense you cant upload it online. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time.|||LOL Flash oriented games use Actionscript 2.0 or 3.0 to control the objects within the flash application. C++ is used for compiling into a .exe to directly run off the computers processor or as .dll etc. Plus, flash games only use resources within the browser and cannot affect local data on your computer.|||You may want to ask on a more programmer related forum e.g http://www.cplusplus.com while also making sure you absolutely trust the person you're working with since they may place malicious code into the main body of the program in which case you've got a whole load of angry people e-mailing you about the problem.

Ask some people you know in your area, so they get verified as reliable and not some script kiddie looking for their first unauthorised break into a computer system.|||Frankly speaking, you should take a course in Flash Actionscripting at a community college. Since you already have the artistic skills you'll be a very marketable web designer once you are comfortable in Flash. If not, you can post on Craigslist. I'm sure there are skillful, experienced designers willing to take on side jobs. G'luck.

Drawing concept art monsters(for games and stuff)?

Alright here's the deal. I dont care about faces perfectly shaded, or a horse whose eyes make u want to cry. I dont realy care about any thing real realy. I want to be a game monster designer. I am most interested in diablo monsters and I want to be able to give my monsters definition. Every thing i draw looks way too flat. Now i dont want to spend an hour shading my creature but i need to be able to see which way those spikes are pointing.

This is how i want to draw.:

    http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/diablo3/images/0/18/?tag=thumbs_below;thumb;3

    see simple yet awesome.

(yes btw i know that to be good u must have an understanding of actual animals and stuff and i do so dont worry bout that part. Pls dont send me to a horse/face shading/drawing guide....i dont care)

thanks in advance.|||First off if you want to design creatures and characters for games you won't be able to limit yourself to just outlines. I have no doubt the person who did that drawing is also very skilled at doing renderings with shading and colour. You have to learn of those techniques as well to get work doing this.

that being said if you want to stick to outlines you'll have to learn to vary the line weight of the drawing. By utilizing thick and thin lines is how you create a sense of depth with just line. In the picture you posted look at how the thicker lines tend to come forward while thinner gives a sense of fading. Look at the spikes in the back and how the lines from them don't even touch the ones that are supposed to be in front.

Look at a lot of artist and see how they do this. Find other sources, comic books and illustrators who use a lot of line work. People like Arthur Rackham and Aubrey Beardsly.|||That monster you posted looks pretty interesting! Try to create a vivid monster in your head and then try your best to put it on paper, using a lot of detail.

You should also check out Masahiro Ito's website for some inspiration:

    http://www.geocities.jp/nobu_hill/

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTADSPmCx鈥?/a>

You might also get inspiration from the Macabre %26amp; Horror section of DA:

http://browse.deviantart.com/digitalart/鈥?/a>|||One thing that will help you to draw your creatures in depth is to model them from clay. You don't need a huge piece. I've created some with a hunk of kneaded eraser - they're tiny, but detailed.

I was surprised to learn that's what they do for the 3-D animations - after a preliminary sketch, they start modeling in clay and wax. Then they can turn the model to an interesting angle and draw (or photograph) from that.

If you can come up with some new creatures, you have a gift that the gaming world is waiting for!|||If you really really want to be a game designer you have to.

1, Stop being such a whiny jerk. - suck it up- you HAVE to spend hundreds of hours shading things- get over it. QQ I don't like shading = your fired.

    2. Study Perspective- if your spikes aren't facing the way you want them to this is probably one of your initial mistakes. You have to care about the direction of your line- thickness of your line- overlap - all these magical things that make drawings look 3D

    3. Study anatomy, Spikes and horns usually relate to the animals anatomy and the purpose of them. - If you want your creatures to stand out you can't just decorate them with horns.

    4. study TONAL PATTERN- that means shading things- suck it up. Even in the drawing you gave as an example there are hatch lines suggesting light shadows on the underside of the bones. It looks simple because the artist knows where to put them. If you hate shading and blending then learn to cross hatch.

You might not care about these things, but employers do care. You can't pick and choose what you like and think that people will hire you. Get a well rounded education in art and then develop a style.

What kind of contract do I need? Rights to media, rights for commercial use, ect.

I want to pay the artist one time, and I don't want to get sued for royalties.

Can anyone point me in the right direction. Is there a generic contract out there?|||A plain English worded contract that assigns YOU, by name, ALL rights to the specific work you are paying for.

    Repeat: ALL rights.

For some starter contract form (for you to modify as needed) do a search for a site called, " 'Lectric Law Library."

Remember, courts will recognize plainly worded contracts without dripping "legalese" phrasings, as long as the terms are clear and simple.

Keep in mind that an artist who gives up his copyrights should get paid significantly more that he might get for licensing images for specific use. In other words, by assigning you all rights, he gives up any future income he might get from the work. (which is what you want)|||I am not a lawyer. I think if you get a written release for said specific drawings detailing what they are and get him to sign and date an artist release you would be covered. Be sure he understands what you are using them for so there is no coming back asking for residuals.

Are the art institutes worth it for video game artistry?

Im looking into becoming a video game artist. However im still unsure which schools would be worth the time and actually lead up to a career with their educating. My question being are the art institutes worthwhile? I feel the schools that advertise so heavily in media aren't worth it am i wrong ?|||The poster above me is 100% correct.

They're an elaborate corporate scam to funnel as many Government Pell grants and guaranteed loans out of students as they can and leave the students with the bill while giving them a bogus useless degree.

They're like McDonald's of Art "Colleges". They're a chain that is popping up everywhere. They buy out dying schools, rename them, keep the accreditation just to get to the government funding.

They may seem like they would be good, but it is all smoke and mirrors. Pretty building with pretty computers. Meanwhile, it will just ruin your life. You don't see it while you're in school because you're under deferment. But once that is over, and you realize their job leads are horrible, you're screwed.

The market demand they say they're meeting is not the demand of the Job market, its the demand of the students. Students that graduated AI are struggling to get jobs and have over more than $50,000+ or $90,000+ in debt depending on what degree they went for. Degrees that are worthless in the job market.

Basically, AI is a degree mill. They use bloated success stats and circle logic to back them up.

They count students working at Toys R Us as in the field. Avoid them if you want to actually have a decent future.

If you really want to pursue your passion, go to a community college, study fine art, and then transfer into a state school. It will be cheaper and the money you save you can buy your own equipment and STILL have money left over for a better future.

Their job leads are bogus, they go to Monster, Craigslist, and career builder just like everyone else. Their top employer is HOME DEPOT (Check their own website) and I guarantee none of those are art jobs.

Don't make the same mistake my friends and I did. We'll be paying for it for the rest of our lives.

If you go with AI you'll be folding clothes at Target or hawking video games at Toys R Us for $8.25 an hour and struggling to pay $90,000 with bill collectors haunting your every waking moment with no way to stop them because there is no bankruptcy protection or consumer protections on Student loans.

GOOD colleges have thousands of graduates saying how good they are and that donate money to them to keep them going. AI has an army of students that HATE/REGRET them. You can find these groups going on facebook, or anywhere around the web.|||I pursued Animation, but most of the people that did the same as you plan (CarrieAnne mentioned in the other bloomberg article) found that one garbage. Nobody takes AI degrees serious

Do you think video games are an overlooked artistic medium?

I think Bioshock is proof enough, video games can be a very mature artistic expression. What other medium is as limitless?

Not only are there few video games I'd consider true art, but people give little credit to the ones that indubitably are!

Or do you honestly not care and just like to kill things?|||For me, almost everything that born from creativity considered art. As for video game, one with very interesting graphic design and unique soundtracks to complete the game environment can attract people to look or/and listen, although they themselves do not play games at all.

As for appreciation and credits, video games awards are the best way to do it, although there is no award for artistic appreciation.|||I think people who are into music and dancing and see them as art forms should be open to video games. Video games are still seen as children's games by a lot of older people. But the medium is quite cool. But as for the games to consider art, I believe it depends on the type of game one likes. If you like combat, the combat must be made into an art form (and that is possible. God of War and Batman's recent games are great examples of it). Like-wise, aspects like stealth, puzzle-solving and platforming also must be refined into art-forms to be memorable..|||Bioshock was based on Ayn Rand interestingly. Someone in a bookstore told me that, I never bothered to check if he was correct.

Anyway. No - I don't think that they're overlooked at all. They're big business, many people make a lot of money from creating and designing games and systems.

I overlook them now. Ennui - There is no point to playing the games. In a game where one is forced to play and that ''win condition'' is decided externally then the only logical response is apathy and indifference. Nietzsche said that in "The Birth Of Tragedy", it was more about the meaninglessness of the world. Nullification in general, existential angst and perhaps despair.

If I am the only one who decides what's good and what isn't then the whole thing is arbitrary. If it's the reverse and all notions of good and bad are decided externally then I'm a zombie - I have no freedom. There is a point one reaches, in art and in philosophy where one can say, at a whim, 'this is beautiful.', or 'this is meaningless', or 'this is...'

I remember 'Lilianna's Song' from Dragon Age Origins. I just had to close my eyes, the animation and graphics were terrific but I think I wept. It was too much. ;)

Are there any martial arts training type games for Wii?

Not a fighting game, something like Fit but with martial arts.|||Don't know.

Where can I find official video game art?

Does anyone know a good website where I can find official game artwork such as character sketches, renders, concept work etc?

I use to use http://vgaa.emulationzone.org/ but they haven't updated in quite awhile now.|||Try to google it.|||There are not many good all around sites, all I really now is www.rpgamer.com It only have RPGs though.

For other games, google is the way to go.

What are some good multicultural/international board games/arts&craft activities?

my school is having a game night and since the school has an international theme we want to have multicultural games. They cant be sports games that involve balls or running. They should be table games like Checkers or Bingo or arts and crafts activites. Does anyone have any suggestions?|||Well..

If you have a person really handy with tools you could reinact the game the Mayans used to play. It's like basketball but instead of a regular basket ball goal it is a hoop placed horizontally on the wall and instead of shooting it you have to bump the ball with your knees, head, hips, etc.. However, you might want to exclude the loser being sacrificed to the gods :X.

Arts and crafts you could try Origami? Maybe make a game out of it or a competition to see who makes the best paper creation?

The African tribes also had a ritual to see who could last the longest standing on one leg on a wooden pole. You could make a game out of that maybe?

Thats about it from my knowledge without using Wikipedia or Google (Hint Hint) :)

  • Greatest artistic achievment in video games?

I'm sure a lot of you have read Roger Ebert's essay on why video games can never be art. If you disagree with his sentiment, what in your opinion is a genuine work of art in the medium, and what does it mean to you?|||Just let him play both of the assassins creed games.

Can anyone reccomend some good dating sim games for the DS?

I want to buy a nice dating sim game with good art. ( * 3*)

I'm a girl, so dating a guy would be nice, and I only have the normal DS.

I know that they have a ton in Japan, so is there any good ones translated in english and sold in the US?

Is there also any good ones online?|||I never knew they had dating sims for females O.o

As for it in english, i HIGHLY doubt it but you can try and find them online. Jlist.com should have some.
