Could I be in the art area of game design with a BA in graphic design?

I would really like to work as a character modeler or a concept artist in video games but we only have one gaming company here in Ky (EA Games). So my backup plan is to become a Graphic Designer if I can't get into EA Games.

What program or programs should I look into while searching for colleges?

Could I just get a BA in graphic design and still be qualified to work as a character modeler or a concept artist for games?|||Possibly. Though graphic design in most schools means logos and layouts.

The best thing to do would be to contact EA Games and ask them directly. Schedule some sort of meeting with them and find out what they are looking for, and where some of their employees graduated from. It'll get your foot in the door easier after you're done with school if you want to work there since it shows real initiative.

I'm thinking a school with a 3D modeling program would be best, especially with extensive training in Maya. You can download a free trial of it here to see if it's your cup of tea:

Google some tutorials on it as well to have some fun with it!
