Need to do art in school to be a games character designer?

do i need to study art to be a games character designer?Need to do art in school to be a games character designer?
That is something that you will have to ask the college itself!

If you need to submit a porfolio . . I don't think so! As long as you can do it at home and have a porfolio to present!

But art class would be great! or do a weekend course over a couple of weeks!

Any help?Need to do art in school to be a games character designer?
That really depends.

You will need a good grasp of anatomy, clothing design, and basic character design. You will also need to understand movement, gravity, textures, the physics of fabric and other materials, and the basics of exaggeration.

Go to the websites of your favorite game developers and find their portfolio requirements. NOTE: Your portfolio MUST be digital, and preferably somewhere online. They still accept paper submissions, but they are much less likely to be looked at.

If you can do that, then no, you do not. You will have to be prepared to haul yourself and your portfolio (along with some way to display it) around to conventions and meetings and showing it to everybody. If you aren't going to go to an art school you should try to make a contact who teaches at one, so you can have access to their connections.Need to do art in school to be a games character designer?
i dont think so. I am not sure but if you want to be a game designer go to this college called DigiPen. That college is specifically made for making video games. So if you want to be a game designer, look up digipen on google and you will find it. I am telling you this because i am not sure about the art, but you will need to know a lot of things about how to design games and digipen actually teaches student to make games. So everything you need to make games will be open to you at that college.

P.S. If you become successful, JOIN VALVE! They rock!!
