I started a art club (highschool), and i was planning some contests and such, but i also wanted to include fun art games where people can draw and have fun.
anyone have any good ideas?
keep in mind that this is highschool...^^
one example would be...let say...drawing a partner, without looking down at the paper, and the person who does the best/most creative drawing wins a chocolate bar or something :D
thanks!!!Anyone know of fun art games for art club?
Using the concept of Pictionary is always good. Use a blackboard or whiteboard and draw topics from a hat. Having a theme is good too. The pros to this game, despite seeming juvenile, increases artistic speed and gets the artist thinking not just about the piece of art, but how other perceive it.
There's this other game that is really fun. Everyone needs a stack of little papers (cut up some scrap paper). There needs to be as many papers as there are individuals playing the game. Sit in a circle. Everyone needs a pencil/pen as well.
First off, everyone writes a sentence on the top piece of paper. They do not show anyone the sentence. The idea is to make it as absurd as possible. I.E. Killer ninjas eating squash in the moonlight. You get the idea.
Then you pass the ENTIRE stack of your papers to the person to your left. Thus EVERYONE is passing on their stack of paper and EVERYONE is receiving a stack of paper.
When you receive your stack, read the sentence and then pile that paper to the back of the pile. Then try to draw whatever the sentence was on the next piece of paper in the stack.
Then when everyone is done, pass them all again. This time though, the person will be writing a sentence and not drawing. And so the pattern continues until the stacks of paper return to whoever started them. It's really entertaining.
There's also this "game" where you simply get in a circle and give everyone a piece of paper (i suggest gathering around a table or desk) Everyone draws something, and then you pass your picture to the right, and then that person adds something to your drawing. So everyone gets to add to everyone's composition.
I also find it amusing to try and draw each other without ever looking at the paper.
Good luck!Anyone know of fun art games for art club?
The type of drawing you are referring to in your example is called contour drawing and consists of the artist never taking his eye off of the subject and covering every single line detail of the subject, which often requires going over the same line again. It is an excellent exercise for artists of any level to practice not just seeing what is in front of them but really looking at every detail of what is there. There is no shading done, simply a line drawing. These can result in some fantastic pieces.
Any exercise that gives you the opportunity to practice skills that you have learned or are currenty working on would be great. When I was in Grade 11 I remember we each had to do an illustration each week that had a different theme. An illustration is a drawing that helps to tell a story, it does not simply mean a cartoon. Some of the themes were 脤t`s under that Kleenex and The Chicken From Outer Space. You not only get to practice what you`ve learned but you get to stretch your creative muscles and see how different people think. Just remember that the judging panel has to be fair and impartial.
